External spiral plastic cryogenic tubes are tubes made of plastic with a spiral design on the outer surface that allows for effective insulation of the tube contents at low temperatures. These tubes are commonly used for the storage and transport of biological samples, including cells, tissues and DNA.
Hypothermia is defined as temperatures below -150°C, which is necessary for the long-term preservation of biological samples. The spiral design of the outer surface of the tube creates a vacuum layer that helps to reduce heat transfer between the environment and the contents of the tube, thereby preserving the sample at low temperatures.
The outer spiral plastic cryotubes are available in a range of sizes and capacities to suit different sample volumes and storage requirements. They are also compatible with a range of storage systems, including liquid nitrogen storage tanks, and can be labelled and organised for easy sample identification.
